Christmas Short Story Competition

Tis (almost) the season to be jolly… or depending on how you see it, criminal.

After our VNaTB Christmas Story competition last year (see here for the runner up stories and here for our winner, Louise Mangos reading her entry at our Christmas show last year) we’re running our second Christmas Short Competition

The Rules

There’s relatively few – just send us a seasonal based crime/ mystery short story that can be read in 7 minutes or under (in terms of word count that will be less than 1,500 words…) How you interpret ‘seasonal’, ‘crime’ ‘mystery’ or ‘story’ is up to you.

The Prizes

We’ll feature the winning author on our Bay Tales/ Virtual Noir at the Bar Christmas Cross Over Show coming online in December and include the story and your author profile on our site.

Plus – the winner will receive a free ticket to our Bay Tales Live February show being held in Whitley Bay.

If Geography or personal circumstances make it impossible for you to join us, then we’ll send the winner a selection box of some of our favourite reads of 2021.

The Judges

They’re naughty but nice. We’ll be announcing our panel of judges very shortly…watch this space.

How to Enter

Send your entry in word/ PDF or other generally accessible format to us at with the Subject Line: Christmas Competition Entry.

Entries by December 12th at the very latest, but we advice earlier if possible!
