
Edward was the winner of our 2021 Bay Tales Christmas Short Story Competition – ‘God Rest Ye’.
Our judges described it as reminiscent of a Graham Swift novel in the way its characters were drawn. The dialogue was much praised and as one of our judges said, “(It starts) small, quiet, tense and then BANG!”…You can read it yourself here to see why they liked it so much.
Edward Barnfield is a writer and researcher living in the Middle East. His stories have appeared in Ellipsis Zine, Lunate, Strands Publisher, Janus Literary, Leicester Writes, Cranked Anvil, and Reflex Press, among others.
In 2021, he won the Exeter Literary Festival Short Story Prize and placed second in the Benedict Kiely Short Story Competition.
